CHANGES IN LATTITUDES.

Well that was a busy, fish filled 3 months. I have been without reliable internet for 90 days, and more often than not - none at all. So I apologize for the lack of content on here! 90 days you say? That's right. I spent the month of February in Mexico, hosting groups of soon to be sunburnt anglers down at Playa Blanca, with my good friends Johnny Pares and Jorge Angulo Tut. Over the 3 weeks, as a group over 40 permit were landed, multiple grand slams, some big snook, Holly caught a sweet 100# tarpon and we drank the island out of beer. Really. None left. I was fortunate enough to be on scene with my camera for several first permit, and even found a few myself. What a month. It never stops amazing me how much you can learn from your guide. I spent more time being the assistant guide this year than in years past with Jorge - and even got somewhat of a handle on poling the boat. Mainly while he was walking with one of our anglers - but he sure taught me a lot. Like any fishery I have ever been involved with, I have the DNA implant to want to drive the boat - right up until that black tail starts waving in there air.......

Moving into March and April - I had a house rented on the fabled Hoh River in Washington and made it through another steelhead season. I changed the program a little this season, and had our guests stay with me rather than in hotels. What a great time - other than the liver damage and lack of sleep - I plan to do it the same next season. We ate great food, caught some great fish and I learned the domino game of "42". If you know about that game - you are invited. Dates are all but sold out already, but I may be able to sneak a few new faces into the mix.

Moving into late April and May - Ill be up on the Adventurous with Travis Peterson again for 5 weeks of steelhead fishing on the Adventurous. Because its almost like going home for me, the hours and work seem easy. The food of course is nothing but the best and the fishing, scenery and the endless amount of crap Travis and I give each other are true sights to behold.

The Stonefly, of course, will be up and running while I'm gone with Holly at the helm - and from the looks of the calendar and weather, she is going to be busy! While our snowpack is a bit lighter than we would like, we are still getting storms and winter/spring is never over until July!

Thanks for reading - more from Alaska next week!
