NEW YEARS RESOLUTIONS

It's that time of year again. Hunting season is all but over, the freezer is full and my desk is a compilation of fly tying materials and Outfitter Logs from the last summer. One corner of the shop is a pile of Saltwater gear destined for Mexico this February, and the other corner is an array of Steelheading tackle and gear. Somehow it's all going to fit in that Toyota Tundra when I migrate to the coast at the end of the month. Midnight tonight means a lot of things to a lot of people, it's hard to even speculate the various resolutions that will be toasted to this New Years Eve. I for one only have about a dozen resolutions, which may come as a surprise from a guy supposedly "Living the Dream". Without boring you with all of them, and listening to your heckling this summer in the drift boat when I still haven't quit chewing, and forgot to take my Lipitor - I'll share with you another New Years Tradition of mine. Reflecting. Looking back at all the places we ended up, the new friends we met, remembering the old ones and thinking about where the New Year will bring us is time well spent in my book. 2013 was a great year for my entire family. Here are a few highlights of our year.

We laid another one of our bird dogs to rest in March. "Tuna" joins her old pal "Salty" in the land of great hunting....

We trained up our newest bird dog "Scout". We even learned where the Sage Grouse live!

Dayna and I celebrated our birthdays together with a little trout roadtrip to The Henry's Fork....

I got lucky on an elk hunt with a couple of the best friends a guy can have. Meats in the freezer early!

Shortly after Elk Season I was treated to a trip to Steelhead Country. Helicopters, Jet Boats, Good Friends and lots of Fireball Whiskey....

I even swung up a good one!

November was a pretty good month in the Whitetail Stand....

McCall got her first gun for her birthday. Here she is on a deer hunt with good old dad.

Cady made her first on stage performance, stealing hearts all over the room.

Those are some standouts in my brain. I hope you enjoyed looking at the photos as much as I enjoyed taking them, or being in them. Life is good in Montana.

Happy New Year to you and yours - from Rooster, Dayna, McCall, Cady the bird dogs and everyone here at The Stonefly. We look forward to seeing you this season.
