SPRING IN MONTANA

I have waited a long time to hear my daughter say "How about we go fishin Daddy?" Well, about 5 minutes after that question we were headed down to a new spring creek we have picked up for the summer..... although it was a bit off color, which was strange, the fish cooperated pretty well all things considered. It felt pretty good to catch the first brown trout of the season, and even better to watch McCall cast a flyrod!

Just a few more days and I will be humming the Johnny Horton song "North to Alaska" from 30,000 feet for the last bit of steelheading for the season.

Things in Montana are shaping up for a great spring fishery, with manageable water flows expected by most of us. With any luck, we will get a few more spring storms to beef up our snowpack.

Back to living the dream for now, we are pouring the concrete for the new patio on the Roost today - lots of changes around here for this summer!

Thanks for reading, Rooster
